Dog attacks

  • Always use your posting peg where you know there is a dog present at the address.
  • Look for signs of dogs such as dog toys, dog mess, warning signs etc.
  • Rattle a gate or call out before entering the premises with a known dog.
  • When delivering parcels or signed for items with a known dog:
  • As the customer approaches the door announce who you are to the customer.
  • Ask the customer to put their dog away before they open the door.
  • Step back from the door to a safe distance to create a space between you and the door.
  • Do not pass the item into the customer/dogs’ space.
