Summer 2023
As Northern Ireland basks in an unexpected spell of warm weather, it’s rather fitting the Carrickfergus and Belfast teams feature as Courier’s summer destination piece. As well as pride in the job and delivering to picturesque parts of the country, the team has also experienced the same kinds of challenges that come with change. A big champion of change, particularly within the digital sphere, is chief analytics and data officer, Mark Briers. His Big Interview touches on his varied career, from defence and national security to becoming the lead scientist on the NHS Covid-19 app, and how this has led him to heading up a new team at Royal Mail. If you haven’t heard of One Royal Mail, you soon will. As the overarching network name for our thriving employee resource groups, the latest edition of Courier lifts the lid on how One Royal Mail is spearheading powerful growth and change. Also in this edition: Royal Mail teams up with South Yorkshire Police to tackle the threat of dog attacks in one of the most hazardous postcodes in the UK, Steps to Zero: one year on, and how a Blackpool postie used his CPR training to save a customer’s life.

Spring 2023
In homage to International Women’s Day, a trio of experienced drivers prove that gender’s no barrier to getting the job done. At Bristol Parcelforce depot, colleagues Carrar Tyer, Elizabeth Frankcom and Lynne Humphries are the only female delivery drivers in a depot team of 100. One person who is determined to champion frontline females and unlock rewarding roles is this month’s Big Interviewee, director of corporate affairs, Jenny Hall. She chats the case for change, how we can protect the Universal Service in the long run and our environmental mission. British Heart Foundation (BHF) is our national charity partner until 2026. Now, our ambition is to raise £2 million to fund our Community Hearts Programme. You’re one of many if you’re a person who pops in a memorable postcode for a password. But did you know our Postcode Address File is a handy database that quite literally keeps the country moving? Plus, the people stories we love to read about. And as always, some great prizes are up for grabs!

Winter 2022
Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat… and Courier Winter is here. Santa’s elves are in overdrive this time of year and so too are our colleagues, as we delve into the Peak operation at Plymouth. A crew of 60 in our Customer Experience (CE) team are handling the influx of Santa Mail. A Sunday spent in Kent to meet the team who recognise why a seven-day service is the direction the business needs to head. As this month’s Big Interviewee, our new chief financial officer Angela Noon affirms she isn’t just a numbers person - she is playing a pivotal role in driving the transformation agenda. Find out what the new year will bring with our new charity partnership alongside British Heart Foundation. The festive season is a joyful occasion for many of us. But for others, it can be a difficult time of year. Discover the wealth of support service available, including the new Health Hub. Plus, lots more - including prizes.
