The Chairman’s Awards for Excellence celebrate the best of the best across Royal Mail.
Chairman's Awards

The Chairman’s Awards were established in 2010 to recognise the outstanding talent and unsung heroes across the business. They celebrate the excellence of colleagues who have gone over and above the call of duty for customers, the community and our people.

The Awards are currently closed to all colleagues for nomination, until next year.

CEO’s Award for Bravery

Celebrating those who have done something brave to help someone or even save their life.

  • This may be someone who has gone to the rescue of a customer or colleague and shown exceptional bravery.
  • This may be physical bravery or moral bravery when facing difficult situations
  • This may be exceptional displays of fearlessness or fortitude

Rising Star Award

Celebrating an individual who really stands out from the crowd

  • Someone who is a role model
  • Strives to achieve success and results – exceeding what is normally expected of them
  • Gives back or inspires others
  • Recognised by others as having the potential to become a future leader or someone who is constantly striving to improve themselves

Postie of the Year

Makes a great contribution to the workplace and to those they work with

  • A postie who goes the extra mile
  • A postie who demonstrates our values; Be Positive, Be Brilliant, Be Part of It
  • Demonstrates excellence and commitment to the business and our community, achieving outstanding results and excellent customer service

Team Leader of the Year

A team leader that exemplifies our values, is a champion for change and treats people fairly and with respect.

  • Consistently promotes a more inclusive way of working that respects the diversity of our people
  • Is a great role model in the workplace and motivates you and/or your team to go the extra mile
  • Encourages others to develop and make the best of their abilities
  • Is a listener; a workplace coach/buddy who supports colleagues when they need it
  • Successfully challenges unacceptable behaviour
  • Goes out of their way to help you/your team
  • Works hard to ensure a safe working environment
  • You should demonstrate what contribution the individual has made

Team of the Year

There’s no I in team and this recognises those who have made a significant and positive impact to the business or their community

  • A team of two or more people who work together for the benefit of the business, effectively and efficiently
  • Encourage team working
  • A team who demonstrates our values; Be Positive, Be Brilliant, Be Part of It
  • Demonstrates excellence and commitment to the business and our community, achieving outstanding results and excellent customer service
  • Demonstrate what underpins their success as a team

Community Champion

Celebrating those who passionately volunteer their time and expertise on projects outside of work, working with people who need help e.g. disadvantaged groups, local charities

  • Volunteering in local schools and youth groups helping young people achieve their full potential
  • Spearhead local fundraising activities for worthy causes/charities
  • Lead activities to support our Group charity
  • Encourage or initiate environmental projects like recycling, fuel saving or carbon management

Safety, Health and Wellbeing Champion

The winner of this award will have demonstrated a commitment to safety, health and wellbeing

  • Demonstrates their commitment to keeping their employees healthy and safe
  • Always ensures safety comes first
  • Raising awareness, upskilling themselves and their teams in safety, health and wellbeing

International Colleague of the Year

This award recognises an individual from within Royal Mail International who:

  • Makes a really positive contribution to the workplace and to those they work with
  • Makes extra effort above the norm - goes the extra mile
  • Demonstrates our values; Be Positive, Be Brilliant, Be Part of It
  • Demonstrates excellence and commitment to the business and/or our community
  • Achieves outstanding results in whatever they do
  • Provides excellent customer service/support for colleagues

International Team of the Year

This award recognises a team from within RM International who:

  • Are a team of 2 or more people who work together and can demonstrate their desire to deliver excellence for our customers and/or colleagues
  • Make a significant and positive impact on the business and/or our community
  • Encourage and embrace team working and work together effectively and efficiently 
  • Demonstrate our values; Be Positive, Be Brilliant, Be Part of It
  • Achieve outstanding results as a team
  • Deliver consistently excellent customer service/support for colleagues
  • Can demonstrate what underpins their success as a team

Logistics Awards

A team player and member of the Fleet team who exemplifies our cultural and commercial goals

Fleet Technician of the Year

  • A great role model in the workplace who supports and motivates others
  • An individual who puts the customer promise at the heart of their activity
  • Excellent technical skills, with a good attention to detail and absolute safety focus
  • An ability to work across a range of vehicle types
  • An ambassador of our cultural change journey
  • A key advocate of expanding our business and ensuring we run a commercially successful Fleet business

HGV and MGV Driver of the Year

  • Is a regular daily vocational driver
  • Encapsulates our values of Be Positive, Be Brilliant & Be Part of It
  • Has had recognition from a colleague, manager or customer during the past 12 months
  • Operates to the highest safety standards
  • Has an exemplary driving record
  • Has demonstrated good performance and driver behaviour

Customer Experience (CE) Awards

These three awards are  open to colleagues in Customer Experience (CE) only. Nominations and selection of these awards will be managed within CE:

  • CE Handle with Care Award: The Handle with Care Award recognises an individual or team who has achieved an exceptionally high standard of customer care. By understanding and caring about the needs of our customers, they have transformed the customer's experience, contributed to the success of the business, and safeguarded our brand. 
  • CE Service Excellence Award: In Customer Experience we strive to delight everyone who engages with us by providing a personalised, enjoyable and timely experience which meets their needs first time. The actions or achievements of those nominated for this award will have contributed significantly to achieving this, by consistently putting our customers at the heart of everything we do. 
  • CE Inspirational Colleague Award: This award recognises an individual who demonstrates our business values on a day to day basis and inspires colleagues across customer experience to live by these values and positively influencing colleague, customer and business successes.
