Charity Champions are essential to the success of our partnership.

Being a Charity Champion will give you the opportunity to develop your skills in leadership, planning, organisational and communication; network with colleagues from across Royal Mail and Parcelforce all whilst raising vital funds for the Community Hearts Programme.

 

What is involved in being a Charity Champion?

We need people who:

  • Are passionate about BHF and charitable and community giving.
  • Would like to learn or improve skills, especially organisational and communication skills.
  • Know their local area and can rally support.
  • Can support local communications.
  • Are happy to support fundraising activity, such as bucket collections and banking money.

 

The commitment:

  • Take an active role in organising a minimum of two fundraising activities a year.
  • Attend at least four of the six virtual meetings a year with Royal Mail Charity Champions from across the UK.
  • Keep track of fundraising activities within your unit or department and pay in all the money raised through Charities Trust.
  • Commit to being a Charity Champion for a minimum of one year (year 1 runs from May 2023 – May 2024)

  • The Community Investment team
  • The Internal Communications team
  • The PR team
  • BHF Partnership Managers
  • Colleagues on your site

 

What support is available?

  • The BHF Partnership Managers
  • The Royal Mail Community Investment Team
  • Senior Managers within your local area 
  • Additionally, the Community Investment team and BHF will provide you with information and support whenever it is needed or required. You will also have a dedicated Charity of the Year hotline.

 

What should I do if I am interested in this role?

  1. Speak to your line manager. This role is voluntary and will sit alongside your current day job commitments*. As this role may occasionally require you to do things such as put-up posters, speak to colleagues etc it is best to speak to your line manager before agreeing to take this role on. They can then help and support you and be aware of the role that you have taken on.

*This role can be shared with others. If you work at a large site, we are happy for you to be part of a BHF champion team to ensure all shifts are covered and that you have further local support.
