Year of the Sheep

Stamps to mark lunar New Year

A test image

To mark the lunar New Year,  we have issued a limited-edition stamp sheet which is available now in selected Post Offices across the UK.

Also known as Chinese New Year, the lunar New Year is named according to the 12 year cycle of the animal zodiac. This is the year of the Sheep. So the stamps feature symbolic images of sheep, as well as  lunar New Year celebrations from five cities across the UK;  Belfast, Cambridge, Sheffield, Cardiff and Edinburgh.

The launch follows the popular Royal Mail sheet for the Year of the Dragon in 2012, Year of the Snake in 2013 and Year of the Horse in 2014

The sheet costs £12.90 and is available online at www.royalmail.com/yearofthesheep  and at selected Post Office across the UK.

A special postmark will also appear today on all stamped UK and international mail.

It will read “Happy Chinese New Year 2015” and will feature a translation in Mandarin Chinese.
