Romford postwoman Elaine scoops Customer Excellence title

A wealth of commendation letters helped Elaine O'Halloran win the Customer Excellence category in this year's Chairman's Awards for Excellence.

As well as many compliments from customers, Elaine has saved the business thousands of pounds.

She spotted PPI mail put in boxes that hadn't been paid for by the customer – in one instance, worth £60,000 in lost revenue – together with fraudulent SmartStamps.

Elaine, based at Romford mail centre, says: ‘I was totally thrilled when I found out I was shortlisted, and I've been so excited about the awards event!

‘At first, I thought I didn't deserve it as I was just doing my job.

‘But since I found out, I've really thought about everything I do.

‘I help teach colleagues what to look out for at our Work Time Listening and Learning (WTLL) sessions.

‘I always advise customers about the best products, and make sure they have everything they need so the mail centre receives the mail in the correct way.

‘It's really nice to be recognised with this award.'
