Fundraising bears, Rowlan D Hill, Hilda and Shany, are out and about visiting teams across the UK – follow their travels on Workplace

Fundraising bear, Rowlan D Hill, is a familiar, friendly face to many.

The oversized plush bear has been known to travel the length and breadth of the UK, meeting teams and members of the public to raise awareness and funds for our in-house charity, Rowland Hill Fund.

In 2019, he and furry pal, Hilda, joined paws and visited offices across the UK on trains, planes and automobiles – all the way up to the Highlands.

Keen not to let the grass grow under his paws now that lockdown’s eased, Rowlan’s about to set off on his travels again. He will be out and about between now and Christmas time - visiting teams, spreading the word about RHF and urging everyone to take place in a prize raffle. The bears have all been double jabbed, so feel free to enjoy a bear hug or a selfie.

This year, Rowlan’s got two companions travelling with him – Hilda and Shany. And he’s fully embraced the digital age and now even has his own social media profile on Workplace – which you can visit by clicking here. ‘If Rowlan can manage it with his paws, then anyone can,’ says his long-time companion and Royal Mail enabling performance manager, Barry Lloyd.

Expect pics and news from Rowlan on Workplace, from across the UK as he meets people and visits faraway (and not so faraway) places during the autumn. And helps to raise funds for his namesake charity, the Rowland Hill Fund, as he goes.

Visit Rowlan’s profile to say hello, leave a comment, request a visit to your office or check out details of the gadget raffle - that’s right, Rowlan’s been testing out some exciting tech whilst in lockdown and now wishes to share some of the gadgets.

If you’ve not yet activated your profile like Rowlan, use our simple five-step instructions here to get connected to Workplace.

Rowlan, Hilda and Shany will be getting involved in our Peak activities too – lending a helping paw where it’s needed – so be sure to check in between now and Christmas and follow the festive fun on Workplace.

Rowlan’s already been spotted, snapped and posted on Workplace – meeting people and joining in at the Medway Mile last week in Rochester alongside the two human companions who are often spotted with him on his travels - Barry Lloyd and Medway postie, Tim Hyde, (aka Lenny the Letter).

Barry Lloyd said: ‘Like many other people, Rowlan’s keen to get out and about after spending a lot of time at home over the past 18 months – bears are social animals and he’s looking forward to many bear hugs, pawsome adventures as well as helping out across the UK in the run up to our Peak period.

‘Please reach out on Workplace, visit his profile and let Rowlan know if you would like him to visit your office. He can’t promise to visit everyone – but will try his very bear-st to get out to see you.’
