Congratulations to our runners-up in the Amazon everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards

In a nod of pure appreciation, two female colleagues were recently recognised for the hard work and determination they contribute in a traditionally male-dominated industry, writes Rachel Brennan.

The Amazon everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards are held annually to celebrate the vital contribution women make to transport and logistics.

Lilian Hunter, linehaul optimisation manager from National Distribution and Mel Peirson, senior delivery leader – south west, both took home a runners-up award for their respective categories.

Mel Peirson took silver in the Supply Chain Award category, dedicated to women who are innovating and excelling in their role.

Although they are underrepresented in the field, Mel believes it’s an industry with fantastic opportunities for women.

‘Events like this highlight the career paths that may not have been considered by women previously. This recognition really helps to drive the agenda of publicising female contributions to this particular sector.’

For Lilian, the awards help to highlight the incredible women who work tirelessly in an industry to deliver a great service to customers.

She helped create and run the National Distribution Women’s Network, which has seen more than 100 women signing up in the first 12 months since they started. It’s no surprise that Lilian was runner-up in the category championing the progress of women working in transport and logistics.

‘I loved the experience of meeting other women from our industry. I felt so proud to be able to represent Royal Mail on a national stage,’ she said.

Congratulations Lilian and Mel! If you’ve been inspired, or you know of someone you’d like to nominate, please look out for further information about next year’s awards here
