Bigger and better

Delivery office improvements – we have announced our first 100 units earmarked for upgrades

Our business has a history of more than five centuries standing. We have a rich and celebrated past. But we need to look ahead too, and to ensure that Royal Mail is fit for the future.

To this end, we are committed to improving 100 delivery offices in the 2021/22 financial year - as you might have heard when we announced this a couple of weeks ago.

The 100 sites have now been agreed. Click here to find a list of them.

We are dedicated to starting work on these 100 sites by end the of the 2021/22 financial year, moving as efficiently as we can to get everything finished as quickly as we can.

We know we have more offices that are in need of capital expenditure and future investment will be reviewed at a later date.

How were the sites decided?

The sites selected are most urgently impacted by the following:

  • Fit for our growing parcels business – our mailbag has changed from letters to parcels and the buildings need to reflect that
  • Energy efficient buildings
  • What is important for our customers, as well as our people.

This is an opportunity to create more modern fit-for-purpose spaces and to make things easier for colleagues at those sites. More efficient units will help our performance, and enable us to build trust on the doorstep.

The delivery office improvements are in addition to electric vehicle scoping work already started at these 70 sites, with a view to installing electric charging posts in around 40 units this financial year.

All priority delivery units are in the process of being briefed about the list and given further details as to why they are or aren't in scope at the present time.
