Watt an achievement
We’ve announced today that we are adding around 3,000 additional electric vehicles to our UK fleet.
This increase represents a ten-fold boost to the number of electric vehicles we use, to around 3,300.
The vehicles will be deployed to delivery offices based across the UK in ultra-low emission zones and green cities.
As part of the plans, charging points are set be installed in all delivery offices set to receive the vehicles, which feature load capacities ranging from 3.7m3 to 6.3m3.
This latest commitment to supercharging our green credentials by giving our electric vehicle fleet a turbo boost is not only good news for our environment and our communities – it is good news for our business too, as electric vehicles now make more economic sense than diesel in the long term.
CEO, Simon Thompson, said: ‘Due to our “feet on the street” delivery model, we are the clear leader in low emissions per parcel in the UK.
‘Electrification of our vehicle fleet will strengthen our advantage. That’s good for our customers, our people and the planet.
‘We look forward to working with vehicle manufacturers and government to increase supply so we can accelerate our transition to electric vehicles in the UK. It matters to our customers, and it matters to us.’
Last month, we announced the launch of our first ever all-electric final mile delivery office - featuring an all-electric fleet of collection and delivery vehicles - at Bristol East Central Delivery Office.
Bristol East’s 23 diesel delivery and collection vans were replaced by fully electric equivalents. Click here to watch RMtv to find out more.
