Shorts on the longest day

Bristol posties make a splash modelling the new Royal Mail uniform

We decided to celebrate today - the longest day of the year - by championing the iconic shorts that Royal Mail posties are famed for wearing - in all weathers. All year round.

And the idea went down a storm – with colleagues Chay Jackson, Andrea Clark and Ant Thornton making a real splash in the national press today as no less than six national newspapers ran stories showing the Bristol-based trio modelling the new Royal Mail uniform.

Chay, Andrea and Ant are pictured against the city’s stunning Clifton Suspension Bridge in shorts and t-shirts from the new uniform, which will be introduced widely across the UK early next year.

Royal Mail has decided to progress with the roll-out of the new uniform for postmen and women following a successful trial earlier this year.

The garments have been developed following feedback from colleagues across the Company, and are designed to better suit contemporary delivery rounds. This will be the first change to Royal Mail’s uniform in more than ten years.
