Posties do so much more than just deliver post – and when they do, our customers often notice and appreciate the little extras they provide.

Here are the top five ways you made a customer’s day last week:

By just being there and being helpful

‘Karl is such a pleasant and helpful post person. He starts early when he can and he always waves when you drive past him. He’s always smiling and puts himself out to make our post safe. Also, we have two ladies over three days and they are equally helpful. Cheery and smiley. Please pass on our thanks to them all.’

By going the extra mile to perform a kind deed

‘I posted a birthday card to my 96-year-old sister in law, which contained some very sentimental items in it. I suddenly remembered that I'd forgotten to write the house number. I was extremely distressed so looked for a postman. The postman I found said that he collects from this post box, would look for the card and put the house number on for me. The card arrived today, on her birthday. The postman's kindness has made all of us so happy. Please can you thank him for us.’

By adapting to whatever challenges face you

Postman/woman always goes above and beyond to make sure that parcels are left in a safe, suitable place. Today, they found a shady spot to leave what was clearly a food package so it was out of the sun. Postman in particular is always friendly and polite. I feel people are so quick to complain when things go wrong but that sometimes the Royal Mail does not get enough credit for how hard the employees have worked throughout the pandemic.’

By being you. Being brilliant. And being part of it.

On the morning of Tuesday 15.06.21, the postman in question tried to deliver a package at 10am. As I was not home, he put the usual card through the door advising to collect next day. Disappointed, as I guessed it might be a birthday gift, but resolved to do as instructed. So imagine my surprise when he came back in the afternoon to try to deliver again! So thoughtful of him, as he must have realised it was flowers. To add to my delight, he was also handing me a package which I had wrongly addressed and had given up hope of ever getting back. So hat’s off to my local delivery man and to the sorting office for finding and returning my parcel, so I still have enough time to get it delivered back to the correct address, before the baby arrives.’
