Checkmate

Free NHS health check for eligible colleagues

Colleagues aged between 40 to 74 years old may be eligible for a free NHS health check.

The health check is designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia and, as well as finding ways to lower the risk.

Compliance and sustainability manager, Nicholas Burns, says the check is hassle-free, where you’re asked a number of questions about your lifestyle, family history, height and weight.

‘I’m guilty of saying, “It’s fine, I’m sure it’ll be ok.” But this free health check could save your life. I’m an advocate for finding out what I can do to make sure I stay healthy, not only for me but also my family.’

About the NHS health check:

  • It will take 20 – 30 minutes, and will be completed by a health professional – nurse, healthcare assistant, etc.
  • The healthcare professional will discuss your results at the end of the check.
  • You will be given personalized advice to help lower your risk, maintain or improve your health.
