Around 150 colleagues from across the business dialled in last Wednesday (16 June) for the virtual Summer People Panel 2021.
The panel is the recognised forum for colleagues to share their feedback and ideas as part of our ongoing conversation about what it is like to work at Royal Mail.
The recent summer event focused its attention on the Big Trust Survey and how we can start to build our corporate action plan.
After an overview of the headline results from the Big Trust Survey, the event was introduced by chief commercial officer, Nick Landon, who explored what the results mean for him and the CCO team.
Nick said: ‘If we trust each other, our customers will trust us.
‘That is our great unlock. It is so important to understand how we interact with each other.’
Nick went on to outline the additional importance of ‘keeping people informed about everything affecting them’ and shared his thoughts on the ‘amazing year and horrible year’ of the pandemic.
He noted how during that time, rival carriers followed Royal Mail’s lead in adopting safe, covid-compliant procedures on the doorstep – demonstrating just how far trust in Royal Mail extends across the industry.
The forum explored a few of the key areas of focus that have been identified from our Big Trust Survey results. These were open and honest communication, trust in senior leadership and feeling valued by the company.
The panel members gave feedback on improving our communications channels and how our senior leaders can help build trust across the organisation by being more visible.
North service delivery director, Jane Simpson, spoke about what the Big Trust Survey results mean to her and team North, alongside the importance of ‘feeling valued,’ inspiring the panel to ‘get involved in the change they want to see.’
