Postboxes are appearing the length and breadth of the UK thanks to Team GB's brilliant performances. To mark Heather Stanning’s gold medal-winning performance in the rowing, we painted the postbox in Clifton Road West, Lossiemouth IV31 6DP gold.
To mark Bradley Wiggins gold medal winning performance in cycling, we painted the red postbox in the Carrington Centre, Eccleston gold. And to celebrate Helen Glover’s gold medal winning performance in the rowing, we painted the postbox in Market Jew Street, Penzance, gold. There's more being painted today.Paralympics
The UK is the first country to paint postboxes gold to celebrate Olympic and Paralympic gold medal wins during the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
The postboxes are located in the home towns of the gold medallists wherever possible. To celebrate a gold medal win by a Team GB team, a post box will be painted gold for every team member. This is a unique, highly visible and fitting way to recognise the successes of Team GB and ParalympicsGB gold medal win during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
